    Product description

On January the 1st 1993, the independent Czech Republic and Slovak Republic originated from the division of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic. This was the culmination of the long and difficult process of emancipation of the Slovak nation. The Slovak Republic has 5.4 million inhabitants, its area is 49 thousand square km, its capital city is Bratislava, its monetary unit is the Slovak crown (Sk). Obverse: The coat of arms of the Slovak Republic is placed in the centre of the upper half of the coin. The inscription "SLOVENSKA REPUBLIKA", the nominal value and year of issue are placed in lines below the coat of arms. Reverse: A map of the Slovak Republic is given in the centre of the coin. A patriarchal cross on three hills is placed on it. The date of origin of the Slovak Republic (1.1.1993) is given above it. Three flying Tatran eagles, each bearing a lime twig in its beak are the symbol of freedom and independence. The inscription: "ZLOZME ROZTRATENE PRUTY SVATOPLUKOVE V PEVNY ZVAZOK V SRDCI EUROPY" (Let us gather the scattered twigs of Svatopluk together to make a firm union in the heart of Europe) is given around the curve of the margin of the coin.
