He was Bishop of Banska Bystrica, the first chairman of Matica slovenska and an advocate of Pan-Slavism. His personal intervention with the Monarch Francis Joseph I contributed to the establishment of the national cultural institution - Matica slovenska in 1863. He played an important role in the development of national academic life and education, including the development of Slovak gymnasia in Banska Bystrica and three other places. He also played a significant role in Croatian national life. He was a member of the first Croatian provincial government and a pioneer of Croatian journalism. Obverse: The obverse of the coin shows the crown of a tree and the name of the state Slovenska republika. A cross with two cross arms is placed in the trunk and crown of the tree.
